Zinedine Zidane's son hung up his boots at the age of 29, despite boasting a 100% goal success rate for his father's former team, Real Madrid.

Enzo Zidane has reportedly ended his playing career after spending the last year as a free agent.

Zidane Jnr. last wore the shirt of Spanish side CF Fuenlabrada, making 29 appearances, scoring one goal and registering four assists during the 2022/23 season.

But despite his good performances, the son of World Cup winner Zidane has failed to agree terms with a new club and is therefore retiring from the sport, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The report claims that Enzo grew tired of waiting for a suitable club to come along and instead decided to focus on his family.

Enzo spent 10 years in Real Madrid's youth team, but only managed one first-team appearance for Los Blancos.

It came in a Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa, with Zidane finding the back of the net in the 6-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

This of course means that Zidane has a 100% scoring success rate for the Spanish giants.

However, Zidane has spoken about his past in his father's shadow before. In 2018, the midfielder told Marca: “I've had it since I was little, and it's always going to be like that. It's not going to change, but I'm trying to get away from it and focus on being the best Enzo I can be.”

β€œPeople compare you, criticize you, want more from you and say you're there because you're someone's son.

“Others will be criticized for other things, but I try not to think about it.

“The most important thing is that my family is proud of me. I just think about growing up as Enzo and nothing else.”

He continued: β€œI was 22 years old [at Madrid]After going through the academy and learning from the first team, my goal was to try other things and grow as a footballer,' he continued.

“Madrid are the best team in the world and it's very difficult to find a place there, but that's the life of a player.

β€œI wanted to go and have a good time somewhere else and have the same dream.”

Zidane retires from football after making 203 appearances for 11 different clubs, scoring 13 goals and providing 24 assists.
