Pep Guardiola cheekily reminded Liverpool fans of their recent Premier League history during a match on Sunday.

Despite losing 2-0 to Arne Slot's side and falling 11 points behind in the title race, Guardiola responded to the “You're sacked in the morning” chants from Liverpool fans with a smile and a playful gesture.

He held up six fingers, signifying the six Premier League titles won by City under his leadership, compared to the single title won by Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-20 season.

After the final whistle, he applauded all four sides of Anfield before heading down the tunnel.

Former City defender and Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards criticized the players for letting Guardiola down in his post-match analysis.

“I wouldn’t say it’s the end of an era,” Richards insisted.

“Man City are going through a difficult time. Some players are letting them down. Today they were just shadows of themselves.

“Pep Guardiola said he was looking for a reaction and they didn't get it. The first half could have been two or three draws for Liverpool.”

After the match, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “I said before this game that we weren't able to think about goals but the season is long.

“We have to think about getting results and then some players will come back and then we will be better and maybe we will believe in it. There are a lot of things to fight for and we will try.”
