Liverpool celebrate their League Cup final victory last year.
The Premier League season may not have started yet, but the Carabao Cup kicks off tonight with 32 games. And there are three more games to come tomorrow, with English Football League clubs looking to improve before the big boys arrive.
The highlight of the show will be on Wednesday, when Leeds United take on Middlesbrough in the Championship. The second round will see the Premier League clubs who have not qualified for European competitions compete, before the others join in the third round.
There will be no extra time this week, with matches tied after 90 minutes being decided by an immediate penalty shootout.
When will the Carabao Cup second round draw take place?
The Carabao Cup second round draw will take place on Wednesday 14 August at approximately 10.15pm, following matches between Leeds and Boro, Hull City v Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth v Cheltenham Town.
On which channel will the Carabao Cup draw be broadcast?
Sky Sports Football will be showing Sheffield United v Wrexham live tonight and has selected the game at Elland Road on Wednesday for its second fixture. But in an unprecedented move, all 35 games will be available to watch on Sky Sports for UK viewers.
Apart from the two selected matches, the others will be broadcast on Sky Sports+ and available on the Sky Sports app. All televised matches will also be available on the NOW streaming service.
Leeds take on Middlesbrough live on Sky Sports Football.
But viewers will have to watch the draw live on Sky Sports Football. It's not yet known who will pick the balls, but it's unlikely to be as hilarious as when Arsenal fan Piers Morgan was forced to officiate the match in a Tottenham shirt in 2018.
How will the Carabao Cup draw take place?
As with the first round, the second round matches will be regionalised, with clubs split into northern and southern sections to limit team travel in midweek. Ball numbers for the draw have yet to be announced, but 13 Premier League teams will be in contention with the winners this week.
It is only in the third round that teams can be drawn against all those still in the competition. At that point, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea will enter the competition.

When is the second round of the Carabao Cup?
The second round matches will take place the week beginning Monday, August 26. They will likely take place over two days, Tuesday, August 27 and Wednesday, August 28.
The competition will finally conclude with the final on Sunday 25 March at Wembley. Liverpool will participate as defending champions, having beaten Chelsea 1-0 in last year's final.
