Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly not told Liverpool officials he wants to leave the club for Real Madrid, despite an opening offer from the Spanish champions. The Anfield prop remains a central figure in Liverpool's quest for Premier League glory under Arne Slot and appears unfazed by Spain's overtures.

According to The Mirror, Alexander-Arnold has shown no desire to join the Santiago Bernabeu team, despite reports from the Spanish press. As Liverpool fend off Real Madrid's advances, having quickly turned down their opening offer for their academy graduate ahead of the January transfer window, talks over renewing Alexander-Arnold's contract with Liverpool persist.

Speaking previously about speculation surrounding his possible move, the England defender claimed his contract discussions with the Merseyside side would remain behind closed doors. In his own words, he explained: “I've been at the club for 20 years now and I've signed four or five contract extensions… and none of them have been played out in public. This one doesn't won't be either.”

Slot has been asked numerous times about Alexander-Arnold's future since his arrival from Feyenoord. After the versatile defender scored in the Reds' 5-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium, Slot said: “He's playing really well, he scored a great goal and the way he celebrated his goal you know. probably said enough, so I don’t do it.” I don't think I need to say much more. »

He explained his satisfaction with his players, saying: “I'm really happy with Trent, just as happy as I am with Mo (Salah) and Virgil (van Dijk), so for me there's no difference. outside world, maybe there's a little more going on around Trent in the media than with the other two, but yeah, I'm happy with the three of them at the moment.”

Contrasting this sentiment was Anfield icon Jamie Carragher's interpretation: he suggested on social media that Alexander-Arnold may be looking for an exit.

Carragher observed: “I like Trent as a boy and a player, but his team would have told Real Madrid to bid and would also have known LFC would refuse. This is to try and cover themselves when he leaves for free.”

Alexander-Arnold, who has 333 games under his belt for Liverpool since leaving the academy, has an impressive cabinet including Premier League and Champions League titles. As Liverpool prepare for their clash with Manchester United at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold aims to continue to play an instrumental role despite the noise outside.
