Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at Liverpool has been the subject of intense speculation, with his contract ending and Real Madrid reportedly circling.

The England international has just six months left on his contract at Anfield, sparking rumors he could negotiate a free transfer when the January window opens.

Amid reports in Spain of an “almost complete” deal with the European heavyweights, Alexander-Arnold appeared to address the rumors during Liverpool's emphatic 5-0 win over West Ham. Scoring her first goal of the season thanks to a deflection from Max Kilman, the full-back celebrated by making a telling gesture by putting her hand to her ear as if speaking.

This act certainly sparked interpretations among fans and social media. One fan mused: “Trent Alexander-Arnold with an interesting celebration after scoring that goal. Wonder what he's trying to imply,” while another said: “Trent Alexander-Arnold sending a message with its celebration.”

Confusion reigned with another supporter who wondered: “Honestly I'm confused about this Trent Alexander-Arnold celebration. Is he silencing the Spanish rumors or the Liverpool fans who think he won't be a Liverpool legend if he signs for Real Madrid??”

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, Alexander-Arnold appears uninterested in engaging in the rumors. Liverpool manager Arne Slot echoed that sentiment when addressing the contract situations of Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

He said: “No, I don't think it's negative at all. He's playing really well, he scored a great goal and the way he celebrated his goal probably tells you enough. I don't think I have to say a lot more.

“I'm really happy with Trent, just as happy as I am with Mo and with Virgil. So for me, there's no difference. For the outside world, maybe there's a little more going on of things around Trent in the media than with the other two but I'm happy with the three at the moment.

Alexander-Arnold was among the scorers in Liverpool's 5-0 defeat to West Ham, with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Salah and Diogo Jota also on target. The Reds will then face their great rival Manchester United.
