Express Sport keeps you up to date with the latest January transfer news
Another weekend of Premier League matches has underlined the need for a selection of struggling teams to recruit in January. Manchester City's agonizing derby defeat was their eighth defeat in 11 matches – a stunning fall from grace for the reigning champions.
But even winners Manchester United are likely to be active in the winter market as Ruben Amorim looks to start building a team in his image. Erik ten Hag has received huge financial backing at Old Trafford, while Amorim and his team of transfer chiefs may need to be more selective.
It is also certain that deals will be made at the bottom of the table, with Southampton, Wolves and Ipswich Town all in danger of relegation.

Newcastle complete first deal in January
Newcastle United stopper Martin Dubravka has reached a preliminary agreement in principle to sign for Al-Shabab, according to Saudi media outlet Ariyadhiah.
The 35-year-old has been used sparingly this season as the Magpies squad is full of goalkeepers.
With Dubravka's contract expiring in June, it is unclear whether the Saudi Pro League side will sign him in January or whether they have pre-agreed a free transfer for the end of the campaign.
The Slovak international made 164 appearances in eight seasons on Tyneside.
Arsenal exit accelerates
Jakub Kiwior is moving closer to an Arsenal exit after asking his representatives to sound out new clubs.
According to Il Mattino, the Kiwior camp has arranged a meeting with Napoli next week.
The 24-year-old remains on the sidelines two years after landing in north London, and he is keen to pursue more regular first-team opportunities.
Man Utd offer Rashford replacement for £41m
Manchester United have made contact with Ademola Lookman's entourage, according to Sky Sports in Switzerland.
Atalanta would be willing to negotiate a sale for offers above £41m, the report adds.
And the 27-year-old would be a high-profile replacement for exit-linked Marcus Rashford.
Lookman has scored 43 goals in 96 games since arriving in Italy.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation, as are clubs elsewhere in Europe.
