However, the Man Utd outcast is now reportedly keen on a move to Barcelona.
Spanish publication Sport claims the delay in Rashford's unceremonious exit at Old Trafford is his desire to join the Spanish giants.
The 27-year-old's representatives reportedly met with United officials earlier this week. It is likely that they have communicated Rashford's preferred destination.
If it is Barca, the wait could be because Barca need to raise funds before signing a large sum of money.
Milan were previously the hot favorites to land the England international.
Man Utd Mbeumo last
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has ruled out a January exit for Bryan Mbeumo.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with Man Utd this month as Ruben Amorim needed to strengthen his squad.
Mbeumo has scored 13 Premier League goals this season and is attracting interest from elite Premier League clubs.
But when asked if he feared Mbeumo would leave Brentford in January, Frank replied: “No. So, very easy to answer that question!”

Green light for Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres
Viktor Gyokeres has been given the green light to join Arsenal after Mikel Arteta made it clear he needs new signings.
The Gunners have been keen to sign a new striker this month, with Gyokeres heavily linked. The Swede's £84m release clause makes him the most achievable target.
Arsenal lost Gabriel Jesus to a long-term knee injury, while Kai Havertz struggled in front of goal.
“Yes, of course, because we lost two great players – Bukayo [Saka] could be out for three months, and Gabby will be out for a long time as well,” Arteta told TNT Sports when asked about signing a new striker.
