Trent Alexander-Arnold strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to give up his stunning £5million mansion if he decides to move to Real Madrid. The 26-year-old's future at Liverpool is becoming increasingly uncertain, with his contract set to expire this summer.
European champions Real Madrid have made him their top transfer target and reportedly approached Liverpool on New Year's Eve in an attempt to sign him in January. The Reds spurned those advances for their vice-captain, who rose through the ranks of the club's academy and won every trophy possible, cementing his status as an Anfield legend.
But with Alexander-Arnold free to negotiate with other clubs this month, the La Liga heavyweights are expected to step up their efforts to sign him at the end of the season. Marca reports that the right-back is keen on a move to Madrid, having been linked for some time with Los Blancos, where his close friend Jude Bellingham has thrived.
Spanish media claim he even informed Liverpool of his desire to leave as a free agent this summer, although various British media outlets have refuted the reports. If Alexander-Arnold chooses to leave, it would mean leaving his luxurious Cheshire mansion.
He bought his multi-million pound property from his former England teammate Raheem Sterling in 2022 when the striker left Manchester City for Chelsea. The five-bedroom resort, which spans five acres, offers a range of luxuries. It has a swimming pool, cinema, games room, bar, wildlife pond and paddock.
Alexander-Arnold even spent £50,000 on a padel court in his garden. But the footballer found himself in a sticky situation for failing to obtain council approval first. There were threats to demolish the court as neighbors feared noisy matches would disrupt their peace.
The pitch itself measures 130 m² and has a maximum height of four meters for the side panels. Ultimately, the council found the construction plans acceptable – but not without compromise.

The Reds star was ordered to demolish four floodlights and hire landscapers to plant trees and hedges to protect the pitch. The council ruled that the court's environmental impacts were “relatively small.”
If rumors about his desire to join Los Blancos come true, the defender could consider buying a mansion in Madrid with similar luxury. England team-mate Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid in 2023, has chosen to live in a £5.5 million property in the city's exclusive La Finca area.
The 21-year-old immediately took to the mansion when he was shown around the property, which features a large rear garden swimming pool, home gym, home cinema, luxury kitchen and stunning views of a golf course.
The departure of one of the players from Anfield for free would be a huge blow for Liverpool, given that Alexander-Arnold spent 20 years with the Reds. He made his professional debut in 2016, racking up 333 appearances in all competitions over the following nine seasons.
