Real Madrid have decided not to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in January, despite his contract coming to an end, according to the Mirror.

The Reds' key defender is expected to be able to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1 as he enters the final six months of his tenure at Anfield.

Although considered a preferred target by Real Madrid, Real Madrid is awaiting his candidacy this winter. His coach, Carlo Ancelotti, confident in the depth of his team, said: “We have Lucas Vazquez, we trust him. Then there is Eder Militao. I see him as a right-back as well.”

The Spanish giants are keen to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer and although they have not officially presented their vision to him, they have communicated with his brother and representative, Tyler, to stay informed of any developments amid ongoing talks at Liverpool. .

Currently, the 26-year-old England star appears inclined to stay at Liverpool, although no deal appears imminent.

Alexander-Arnold made it clear that his decision would be heavily influenced by the team's potential for success, putting manager Arne Slot under pressure to win trophies this campaign.
