Erling Haaland verbally attacked Arsenal players after the match
Piers Morgan has branded Erling Haaland a “bad guy” over his behaviour after Sunday's tumultuous match.
Manchester City and Arsenal played out a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend, with Haaland putting City ahead but Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes completing a thrilling comeback.
Arsenal were reduced to ten men just before the break due to Leandro Trossard's sending off. The Gunners looked set to take all three points, but John Stones equalised in added time.
The drama didn't end at the final whistle, with Haaland seen in a heated exchange with Mikel Arteta and Gabriel Jesus afterwards. He was heard advising the Arsenal manager to “be humble”.
Presenter Morgan was furious and took aim at the Manchester City striker.
Piers Morgan was not impressed by Erling Haaland's antics
On social media, he wrote: “Humility lessons from the most arrogant player in the league, who viciously belittled 17-year-old Lewis-Skelly and cowardly threw a ball at the back of Gabriel's head. Shut up. You're a bad guy.”
Morgan didn't stop at Haaland's jokes. He also called Michael Owen's remarks “absurd.”
The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker commented: “Great game yesterday but Arteta's reaction and comments afterwards were poor again. It was a definite red card for Trossard.
“The only team that was badly hit was City, as Michael Oliver allowed the game to restart seconds too early before Arsenal equalised.”
Haaland will not be sanctioned by the FA, but has also drawn heavy criticism from former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.
After Stones equalised for Man City, Haaland was seen collecting the ball and throwing it to Arsenal's Gabriel, who had his back turned.
Wright lashed out at Haaland over the incident on social media, saying: “The only thing that really got me boiling was Haaland's cowardly gesture.
“Throwing the ball at Gabi's head when he's not looking. When Gabi's back is turned. He's a real coward. Gabi was looking him in the eye, you know. That's what bothered me more than anything. I thought you [Haaland] were bigger than that.”
Despite concerns that Haaland could face retrospective action from the FA, no sanction is expected for the Norwegian as VAR did not consider the act to be violent conduct.
