Paul Pogba will return to football next year.
Paul Pogba has already publicly ruled out the possibility of returning to Manchester as recently as October, due to links with a shock move to Manchester City. And Express Sport understands the Premier League champions have no interest in Pogba and have never had an interest in the former Manchester United midfielder despite the rumours.
On Saturday, a report claimed that City had probed the 31-year-old in a stunning move once he is free to return to football in March.
Pogba is a free agent after leaving Juventus last month and is currently looking for a new club to return to in three months.
But there is thought to be no chance of Pep Guardiola strengthening his failing squad with France's World Cup winner next year.
And Pogba has already dashed any hopes of the controversial move going ahead due to problems his family faced while living in Manchester.
Pogba spent six years in the English city after returning to United from Juventus for a record fee of £89million in 2016.
His relationship with supporters, however, deteriorated throughout his disappointing second spell at Old Trafford, leading to an inevitable exit in 2022.
At the time, Pogba was linked with an incredible move across town to the Etihad Stadium. But two months ago, while admitting it wasn't impossible, he revealed why it didn't happen.
Paul Pogba has teased his return to football.
“Honestly, I had a lot of problems. I had the burglary, I had [a] problem with extortion. I had to leave Manchester,” the former United number 6 told Mail Sport.
“Let's put it this way: if I didn't have this [problems]maybe I would have been at City.
“But with an 'if' you can save the world because I didn't want to stay in Manchester. But it wasn't a closed door because I left United for free.”
Pogba's Manchester home was attacked by thieves in March 2022, an incident which heavily influenced his decision to join Juventus a few months later.
The dynamic midfielder and his wife Zulay were away from home watching a match, but their young children were sleeping upstairs during the terrifying ordeal.
Pogba will make his highly anticipated return to football in March after his four-year ban for doping offenses was reduced to 18 months earlier this year.
On Friday, he announced his return to Instagram with a cryptic story showing a black screen with a timer, zipped lips and tongue-out face emojis.
Inter Miami are currently the favorites to seal his signature and add him to Javier Mascherano's all-star team in MLS.
Marseille, Corinthians and San Diego FC were also backed as favorites by the bookmakers.
