Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze's release clause in his contract has reportedly expired.

The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer, with his impressive appearances at Euro 2024 only further fuelling speculation over his future.

However, those who had planned to attempt to sign Eze in the final weeks of the transfer window have been dealt a blow.

According to the Daily Mail, Eze's release clause is no longer active as it expired on Friday night, meaning those interested in the former QPR playmaker will have to negotiate a deal with Palace if they are to reach an agreement.

The original clause was worth £60m, with £8m in add-ons. Palace are now expected to demand a higher fee from Eze's suitors if they are contacted before the end of the month.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with the 26-year-old. Eze is also admired by Manchester City and Pep Guardiola's side have shortlisted the versatile forward as one of several options that could be considered following Julian Alvarez's move to Atletico Madrid.

Palace have been fending off offers for key players for most of the transfer window, with multiple clubs coming forward to try to sign Michael Olise before Bayern Munich activated his release clause, with Fulham also desperate to secure the signature of Joachim Andersen.

Michael Guehi is also at the heart of a transfer saga. Newcastle have seen four bids for the England international rejected but they have yet to meet Palace's £65m valuation of the defender and the Magpies are now considering walking away from negotiations in favour of signing an alternative.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish has openly stated that his side will demand a “superstar fee” from Guehi as they rate him incredibly highly. But with the ex-Chelsea star in the final two years of his Palace contract and a contract extension unlikely, Newcastle will be hoping Palace feel compelled to play.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among those who have already been linked with Guehi and the Magpies' failed bid for the centre-back has made it clear to those considering a move that Palace are in no rush to part ways with their No.6.
