Manchester City players reportedly threw objects in the dressing room in anger during a heated discussion after their Champions League draw against Feyenoord.

Pep Guardiola's side looked set to claim their first win in five matches but were denied by a superb comeback from their Dutch opponents, who were slow to salvage a hard-earned point.

A brace from Erling Haaland and a goal from Ilkay Gundogan put the hosts in control before Feyenoord hit back. Anis Hadj-Moussa, Santiago Gimenez and David Hancko found the net to complete an impressive turnaround and leave City reeling.

Tempers flared in the dressing room after the final whistle as City players reflected on their dramatic collapse, according to the Daily Mail.

Items are said to have been thrown out of frustration, with players calling out individuals and units as they discussed what went wrong.

The mood in the City camp at the moment is described as “solemn”, with the reigning Premier League champions on a miserable six-match winless run in all competitions.

However, the report adds that a group of senior leaders consisting of Kyle Walker, Ilkay Gundogan, Ruben Dias, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva agreed that a crisis meeting was not yet necessary.

Things won't get any easier for City in their next match against league leaders Liverpool, and it remains to be seen whether Guardiola will be able to turn the tide.

The Spaniard signed a new deal at the Etihad Stadium earlier this month, but speaking ahead of the trip to Anfield, he suggested he could still pay for his job if results do not improve.

“I don't want to stay there if I feel like I'm causing a problem,” Guardiola said. “I don't want to stay here just because the contract is there. My president knows that.

β€œI told him, β€˜Give me the chance to try to come back,’ and especially when everyone comes back. [from injury] and see what happens. Afterwards, if I don't succeed, I have to change because, of course, [the previous] nine years are dead.

β€œMore than ever, I ask my superiors to give me a chance. Will it be easy for me now? No. I have the feeling that I still have a job to do and that I want to do it. “
