Arne Slot reportedly keen to bring Aurélien Tchouameni to Anfield
Liverpool have reportedly contacted Aurélien Tchouameni's representatives to gauge his interest in joining them from Real Madrid. The Reds attempted to sign him before his arrival in the Spanish capital and were linked with a further pursuit this summer.
Their interest remained following the appointment of Arne Slot and a move is still under consideration, according to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri. Liverpool have reportedly started talks with Tchouameni's associates in the hope of finally bringing him to Anfield.
Real Madrid are believed to be ready to sell the Frenchman, who they signed from Monaco in the summer of 2022. They are reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of £50m after identifying a number of potential replacements.
Real Madrid are reportedly willing to sell the Frenchman for around £50million.
The report adds that Real Madrid are keen to sign Rodri from Manchester City to strengthen their midfield ranks. Chelsea playmaker Enzo Fernandez is listed as a back-up option in case the Premier League champions refuse to do business.
Liverpool reportedly believe Tchouameni has the ideal profile for his defensive midfield role under Slot. Ryan Gravenberch has excelled in the position of late, but it seems the Reds are still looking to improve the Dutchman.
They attempted to strengthen in the middle of the park during the summer but were unable to improve on the options already at their disposal. Martin Zubimendi was their main target, but the 25-year-old ultimately chose to stay at Real Sociedad.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid would be willing to sell Tchouameni in January or whether they would only consider letting him leave at the end of the season. He remains linked until 2028, having signed a six-year contract upon his arrival at the Bernabeu.

Tchouameni is currently nursing an ankle injury that is expected to keep him on the treatment table for about four weeks. He was booed by Real Madrid fans after making an error against AC Milan on Tuesday before being hooked at the break.
He is yet to score or provide an assist despite making 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season. Tchouameni's stutter may have influenced Real Madrid's decision to look for alternative options, which could allow Liverpool to pounce.
Only time will tell if the Reds can finally sign their man over the coming months, with his current employers appearing willing to let him go.
