Express Sport brings you all the latest transfer news.
The 2024/25 season kicks off tomorrow when FA Cup winners Manchester United take on Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. Next Friday, the new Premier League campaign begins when Fulham visit Old Trafford to face United, and the clubs will be keen to get their deals done before then.
The deadline is, however, August 30 and many activities are expected in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are among the elite teams ready to do business as Arne Slot searches for a new defensive midfielder to support his possession-based style of play.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking for their own midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a striker.
In London, there is a perception that Chelsea are trying to recruit an entirely new team to add to their current squad of nearly 50 players.
Express Sport brings you all the latest transfer news LIVE…
Tottenham close in on Dominic Solanke
AFC Bournemouth have reportedly agreed to sell Dominic Solanke for a club-record transfer fee as Tottenham Hotspur close in on his signature.
According to The Athletic, Spurs have agreed a personal deal with the 26-year-old forward after Ange Postecoglou identified him as a priority.
And Bournemouth are reportedly willing to cash in on a fee higher than the £41million they received from Manchester City for Nathan Ake in 2020.
Solanke has a £65million release clause but it appears Spurs could negotiate a lower fee.
Martin Zubimendi wants Liverpool
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is reportedly keen on joining Liverpool, with the Anfield giants pushing for his signature.
According to Sky Germany, Liverpool have a strong relationship with their agency Idub Global, which also manages Xabi Alonso.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Zubimendi believes a move to Merseyside would be a special step in his career after rejecting approaches from other clubs.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pay the 26-year-old's £51million release clause in full or open negotiations for a lower fee.
Manchester United prepare bid for Sander Berge
Manchester United are reportedly preparing an opening bid for Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.
According to TEAMtalk, Berge has given the green light to a move to Old Trafford after being identified as an alternative to PSG's Manuel Ugarte.
Burnley are said to value the 26-year-old at £30million but United are hoping to convince the Championship club to sell for around £25million.
