The 2024/25 Premier League season is underway, with Manchester United opening the season with a 1-0 win over Fulham. New signing Joshua Zirkzee scored the winner at Old Trafford, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe's spending spree is already showing signs of paying off.

The Red Devils are still looking for reinforcements, with a new midfielder in the pipeline and several cut-price options under consideration at left-back. The acquisition of another striker is also not out of the question.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen to bolster their midfield ranks, with the latter yet to make any signings this summer. Arne Slot has played down the importance of reshuffling his ranks, but the Reds have shortlisted targets at both ends of the pitch ahead of the final weeks of the signing window.

Express Sport provides live transfer updates and gossip below.

Manchester City and Tottenham deal Eze a blow

The release clause in Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze's contract has reportedly expired.

Manchester City and Tottenham have been heavily linked with the England international in recent weeks, but they will now have to negotiate a deal with Palace if they are to secure the striker's services.

The Daily Mail reports that Eze's release clause expired on Friday night. The clause was worth £60 million, plus an additional £8 million.

Ben Chilwell ordered to leave Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has publicly revealed that Ben Chilwell is set to look for a new club for the remainder of the transfer window.

Speaking on Friday, the former Leicester City boss said: “With Chilly it’s quite clear, I like the way he trains, I like the way he is, but the problem is he struggles a bit with us to find his best position.

“When you train every day and you don't get minutes, it's not good for them and it's not good for me because I have to make decisions. For some players, sometimes it's better to leave and go somewhere to get playing time. We'll see what happens, the transfer window is open and we'll see what happens.”

Manchester United were among those who expressed interest in the left-back earlier this summer.

Chelsea close in on swap deal

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are moving closer to completing a swap deal, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Atletico are desperate to secure the signing of Conor Gallagher, while the Blues are interested in acquiring the services of Joao Felix after their move for Samu Omorodion fell through.

A “series of positive discussions” took place between the two clubs on Friday and Felix has now agreed terms with Chelsea.

There is hope that the deal can be finalized this weekend.

Liverpool prepare new £51m haul

Liverpool have reportedly rekindled their interest in winger Takefusa Kubo.

The Reds were linked with the Japan international earlier this summer, and Tutto Juve claim Arne Slot's side are back in their sights for the versatile forward.

By completing a deal for Kubo, Liverpool would once again open negotiations with Real Sociedad after unsuccessfully trying to sign Martin Zubimendi, which saw the midfielder dissuaded from joining Anfield by his boyhood team.

Luckily for Liverpool, just like the Spain international, Kubo also has a £51million release clause in his contract which can be activated to expedite their pursuit.
