Lionel Messi is in a sticky situation after a former rival criticized his controversial celebration for showing a “lack of professionalism and manners”. Messi upset former Mexico international Adolfo Bautista in a pre-season friendly between Inter Miami and Club America.

Celebrating with his former Barcelona colleagues Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Messi made a controversial gesture towards spectators at the Allegiant Stadium.
Stretching out his arms and showing his jersey, he then flashed a three-finger salute, apparently referring to Argentina's three World Cup victories, reports the Mirror US. This angered Bautista – who previously faced Messi during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Mexico were beaten 3-1 – prompting him to vent his frustrations online.
In a scathing criticism on social media, the former striker revealed his disappointment at Messi's antics, saying: “I admired you as a player. But disturbing my country shows your lack of professionalism and good manners. “

Along with his views on the Inter Miami sensation, he shared a nostalgic snap of himself in action with the Argentina legend during their clash in 2010. The photo shows him charging with the ball while Messi remains on the ground in the background.
Messi's goal – his first in 2025 – also marked his first under new Miami coach Javier Mascherano. The pair shared the pitch for 13 years, representing Argentina, and enjoyed eight unforgettable years together at Barcelona, winning the Champions League in 2015.
