Kylian Mbappé copies Cristiano Ronaldo during Real Madrid presentation and tackles PSG

Kylian Mbappe has drawn parallels with Cristiano Ronaldo as he began his Real Madrid career in a similar way to the Portuguese icon, chanting to the thousands of people who welcomed him to the Bernabeu.

The French superstar counted down “Uno… dos… tres… Hala Madrid!” as the entire stadium joined in their new Galactico, perhaps knowing that Ronaldo had made the exact same cheer when he completed his move from Manchester United in 2009.

Mbappe even raised his arms in the same manner as Ronaldo, both curiously wearing the number nine on their backs, despite having been affiliated with 10 and 7 respectively throughout their glittering careers.

Club legend Zinedine Zidane was among the 80,000 fans present to celebrate Mbappe's arrival in Madrid, joined on stage by president Florentino Perez and their 15 Champions League trophies.

“12 years ago, Zizou [Zidane] “We invited a boy to our training ground, and now he is the star who will help us succeed in the future, today we welcome Kylian Mbappé,” Perez told a cheering crowd.

“Welcome home and congratulations on achieving your dream. I know what this means to you and your family. We saw how bright your eyes were when you came here at the age of 13.”

Mbappe, who appeared slightly overawed by the occasion, then proceeded to silence any suggestion of nervousness by delivering a speech in Spanish to endear himself to Los Blanco supporters after finally sealing a long-awaited transfer.

“I have dreamed of playing for Real Madrid for years, today my dream has come true and I am especially happy today,” he said. “It is an incredible day for me. Since I was a child I only had one dream, and that was to play for Real Madrid. It means a lot to me to be here. Thank you to the fans for being here to celebrate this moment with me.

“I have another dream: to live up to this club, the best in the world. I will give everything, everything I have in me, for this club.”

Mbappe may also have taken a thinly veiled dig at Paris Saint-Germain upon his departure from the club. Towards the end of his seven-year affiliation with the Ligue 1 giants, he was banned from the first team before being reinstated.

Despite their attempts to lure Mbappe back, he sent PSG an official letter to the club informing them of his decision not to extend his contract beyond this summer, which would mark a bitter end to his time in Paris.

“We won guys. We won. I'm here,” Mbappe added curiously, in a nod to the years-long saga coming to an end with the Frenchman getting his wish to join Madrid.
