Gary Lineker left the BBC studio in fits of laughter during the Portugal v France Euro 2024 match after making an unexpected joke about Cristiano Ronaldo's penis. The BBC presenter made a bizarre comment about Ronaldo's “second leg” as the Portugal captain received treatment before extra time.

Portugal and France played out a tight 0-0 draw in regulation time at the Volksparkstadion, forcing extra time in a second consecutive Euro 2024 quarter-final.

Ronaldo, as usual, remained on the pitch during extra time and received the close attention of two masseuses before kick-off.

As Lineker discussed the first 90 minutes with Rio Ferdinand, Jermaine Jenas and Jose Fonte, he asked the latter about his experience of lifting Euro 2016.

Lineker provoked a reaction by telling Fonte: “In 2016 when you won the Euros you had six draws after 90 minutes… But it doesn't matter if you win it! They always find a way.”

Ferdinand interrupted the 63-year-old with two “boring” comments aimed at the nature of Portugal's success in France eight years ago.

The former Manchester United and England defender then highlighted the BBC broadcast showing Ronaldo sitting on the pitch receiving a massage to both legs before extra time.

He said, “He's got two masseuses on his legs there! What's going on there?! One on each leg!”

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win this summer's Euro 2024 tournament and you can get your hands on the brand new Nike home and away kits before the first whistle.

Lineker then provoked laughter from his fellow pundits by cheekily joking: “Luckily he doesn't have three!”

Fonte, who was not one of those who could not hide his humour at this crude joke, waited patiently for his moment to respond to Lineker's previous point, asking: “May I?”

The out-of-nowhere comment also surprised viewers, many of whom took to social media to check if they had heard him correctly.

Ronaldo's massages apparently paid off as the 39-year-old continued to lead the Portuguese line throughout extra time.

Portugal and France were battling for a place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals after Spain, for their part of the draw, eliminated hosts Germany earlier in the day.

Dani Olmo put the Spanish side ahead in Stuttgart before Florian Wirtz equalised in the 89th minute to save his country.

But that only earned Germany a reprieve as Olmo's precise cross provided the assist for Mikel Merino's acrobatic header in the 119th minute.

On Saturday, the two quarter-finals on the other side of the draw will be played, starting with England v Switzerland in Düsseldorf. Berlin will then host the Netherlands v Turkey match.
