Former Premier League striker 'wants Roy Keane to kick Erling Haaland's dad in the balls'

Former Coventry City and Newcastle United striker Micky Quinn is furious to see Erling Haaland break his Premier League record this weekend. The Manchester City star took just five games to reach 10 goals in a league season, eclipsing the six games it took Quinn in 1992/93.

Haaland matched the former Premier League striker's benchmark in his first season at City but this campaign he has come out of the blocks with even greater ferocity, scoring in each of the Blues' first five games, including two hat-tricks and a brace.

Reacting to the news of Haaland's record, Quinn wrote on X: “FFS I wish Roy Keane had slammed his dad in the butt and I would have had 5 more @premierleague records to break.”

Keane's horrific tackle on Haaland's father Alf-Inge in the 2001 Manchester derby saw the Norwegian make just four more substitute appearances before retiring. The incident came four years after Alf-Inge, while playing for Leeds United, stood over Keane and accused him of faking an injury when he had ruptured a cruciate ligament.

Of the challenge, Keane wrote in his autobiography: “I waited long enough. I hit it hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that, you b****.”

Haaland's goal-machine son opened the scoring against Arsenal on Sunday after collecting Savinho's measured ball and beating David Raya.

But he had virtually no luck for the rest of the game as Arsenal replied twice before the break, through Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel, and battened down the hatches in the second half after Leandro Trossard was sent off.

The Gunners put all 10 players behind the ball and managed to keep City at bay until the 98th minute, when John Stones popped up with a vital equaliser. Haaland then rushed to collect the ball in the net and flicked it onto the back of Gabriel's head as he was heading back towards the centre circle.

Although he was barely involved in the game, Haaland made his presence felt at the end of the 2-2 draw against Arsenal when he clashed with Gabriel Jesus after the final whistle and told 17-year-old substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly “Who the hell are you?”

Haaland scored 52 goals in his debut season and found the net 38 times last season. He has already reached double figures this season, taking him to exactly 100 goals for City in just 105 games.
