Manchester City's transfer window appears to be getting underway, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

Julian Alvarez appears set to join Atletico Madrid, with the Argentine striker having successfully negotiated a transfer away from the club.

Despite featuring in 36 of City's 38 Premier League games last season, Alvarez is understood to be unhappy with his game time, with the 24-year-old keen to play more as a full-fledged striker.

Alvarez's departure could bring the Blues up to £81million in revenue, with City prepared to reinvest the money in reinforcements.

If they are looking to add a striker to their ranks, Express Sport have detailed what Pep Guardiola's dream forward line could look like next season.

With money to spend, City could flex their financial muscle by securing the signing of Eberechi Eze.

The attacking midfielder has been a long-standing transfer target for the Premier League champions, with reports City saw a last-minute approach turned down by Crystal Palace last summer.

As a full England international, Eze is likely to cost a fairly hefty fee, with initial reports suggesting a fee in the region of £68million will be required.

But with a void appearing to be opening up in City's squad, a return for Eze could be on the cards for Guardiola's men.

Although the Premier League season kicks off in less than two weeks, questions over Jack Grealish's future remain.

Having excelled in City's treble triumph two seasons ago, Grealish endured a campaign to forget last time out, culminating in his failure to make England's Euro 2024 squad.

However, Grealish has retained the backing of his manager, with Guardiola confident the former Aston Villa ace will rediscover his fitness.

Speaking earlier this summer, Guardiola said: “He will be back. He has struggled this season and Jeremy [Doku] made an incredible step forward as everyone has seen in the last few games.

“But Jack will be back to last season's level, I'm pretty sure of that.”

It has been a busy summer for City's attackers, with the 2023 European champions reshuffling the pack.

Academy duo Oscar Bobb and James McAtee look set to break into the senior squad after impressing on City's pre-season tour of the United States.

City's only summer signing so far this summer has seen Savinho sign a deal worth £30million, having impressed at City Football Group club Girona last season.

The Brazilian could be one of four summer deals for City's forwards, should Eze put pen to paper at the Etihad and Alvarez seal a move to Madrid later in the window.

Liam Delap is the other notable City striker to leave this summer after the forward joined Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town for £20million.
