David Beckham has explained why he loves watching Trent Alexander-Arnold play for Liverpool FC and England. The Three Lions legend has praised the right-back.

Alexander-Arnold enjoyed a successful career from the age of 26. He has been as key as any other player to Jurgen Klopp's success on Merseyside, including his Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

His defensive abilities have been scrutinized over the years, which has contributed to his international progress being halted. But on the ball, almost no one can match his quality.

Beckham knows what that looks like, which is why he chose Alexander-Arnold as the player he says is most like him in the modern game on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

Speaking to his former Manchester United teammate, he said: “I suppose if there was a player I look at and I think, 'he's very similar in the way he throws the ball, he's very similar in the way he crosses the ball.' ball or pass,” it must be Trent.

“In all honesty, I think it's an incredible [player] – his vision, he is incredible. And he's an exceptional player, but when I look at a player and I think I see myself in the way he puts the ball, what he sees in the long balls that he plays, you know he plays balls that some players don't play. think about it and that's what I like about him as a player.

Alexander-Arnold has already received some words of wisdom from Beckham himself. They crossed paths at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Beckham visiting the England camp.

He took the time to chat with Alexander-Arnold about set pieces, an important facet of their two matches. The former Real Madrid and AC Milan star insisted on the importance of consistency, a philosophy instilled in him by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Beckham said: “When I was at United, Ferguson, as soon as he saw me go a little bit, either with my momentum or with the softness of my kick, he would bring me back. He knew exactly what I wanted . hurt.

“So I just kept doing the same thing over and over again. I never changed it. Just keep doing it. It's simple, but so important. But you obviously do it. Just keep doing what you're doing, because that you can cross a ball!”

There is a possibility that Alexander-Arnold will follow in Beckham's footsteps and head to the Spanish capital next summer when his contract with Liverpool expires. Real are reportedly interested in signing him on a free transfer.
