Cristiano Ronaldo hints at likely retirement date after new historic record

P.portuguese star >Cristiano Ronaldo spoke once again of its possible retirement as a professional player after setting a new record for international victories in men's soccer Friday.

Portugal beat Poland 5-1 with two goals from CR7including an acrobatic kick, to seal the Portuguese nation's place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League.

It was Ronaldo's 132nd international victorysurpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramoswho accumulated 131 with Spain.

After the match, Ronaldo, 39 years old insisted his focus remains on having fun as a footballer, despite the specter of retirement looming ever closer.

“I just want to enjoy football,” Ronaldo said. “Planning for my retirement if it's going to happen, in one or two years, I don't know. I'll be 40 soon.

“I really want to enjoy while being motivated, to continue. The day I no longer feel motivated, I will retire,” added the current Al Nassr player.

CR7 and the rumor of a move to MLS

But in recent days, the rumor of a possible move of CR7 go to football in the United States in MLS has become a probability, and to have the opportunity to face and share ground with its long-time rival, Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo added that he has no plans to become a coach when he finally hangs up his boots.

“I don’t see myself leading a team, it’s not in my plans,” said CR7. “My future lies in other areas outside of football, although time will tell what happens.”

Portugal faces Croatia on Monday during his last match of the group stage of the Europa Nations Leagueeven though Ronaldo was released early and will return to Al-Nassr to continue the season in the Saudi Professional League.
