Chelsea have already lost to Manchester City in pre-season
Chelsea have once again proven themselves to be one of the busiest teams in the Premier League this transfer window, with the majority of the Blues' business completed.
For the second season running, a new manager comes on board as Enzo Maresca prepares for a tough test against champions Manchester City.
The Italian will not need to be reminded of the talents in Pep Guardiola's squad, having worked as the Catalan's assistant until the end of the 2022-23 season. His Chelsea side were also beaten 4-2 by a City youth team in their pre-season clash on Saturday.
There is no doubt that the seven new arrivals this summer will need some time to settle into their new surroundings. But Maresca is keen to start the season – and his reign at Chelsea – on a winning note on August 18 after splashing out £94.5million.
With Conor Gallagher set to join Atletico Madrid and other departures expected, the west London club could yet pull off a last-minute signing before the start of the season.
Express Sport looks at how Chelsea could line up for their first game at Stamford Bridge in less than two weeks.
Filip Jorgensen has arrived from Villarreal in a £20m deal
Goalkeeper: FILIP JORGENSEN
It is incredible that Maresca still has nine keepers to choose from for his first Premier League game. But their £20m new signing Jorgensen is unlikely to be left out as the Dane is thrown straight in at the deep end.
Robert Sanchez has conceded eight goals in three pre-season games, while Djorde Petrovic has headed home amid uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to leave the club and will not be part of the squad, with Chelsea set to give up his place in the team to one of their new signings.
Tosin Adarabioyo has signed on a free transfer from Fulham
Defenders: Reece James, TOSIN ADABRABIOYO, Levi Colwill
It is in defence that positions will be up for grabs, with only James assured of his place under Maresca as centre-back.
Adarabioyo's size will come in handy in dealing with Erling Haaland and the centre-back is tasked with bringing the ball out from the back, while question marks remain over the involvement of Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.
Levi Colwill has been preferred to Badiashile for the left centre-back position and looks set to continue in that role. Marc Cucurella's late return to the team means he will be on the bench, alongside missing full-back Ben Chilwell.
Moises Caicedo is a pillar of the Chelsea team
Midfield: Moises Caicedo, Malo Gusto
Caicedo's role within the team has only grown more important now that Gallagher is on the way out.
The Ecuadorian will need to get the ball out from the back better than in their pre-season defeat and for that, he will have inverted full-back Gusto to provide defensive support in the double pivot.
New signing Renato Veiga has been little used so far since his £12million move from FC Basel and the 20-year-old is a long way from first-team action.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall reunites with Enzo Maresca at Chelsea in £30m move
Forwards: Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, KIERNAN DEWSBURY-HALL, Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea's strength lies in their creativity, which will only be amplified by the recent signing of Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester for £30m. But the competition for places is fiercer than ever.
Dewsbury-Hall knows Maresca's scheme better than anyone and that is why he could get the nod over Romeo Lavia, despite the Belgian's handful of appearances in pre-season.
Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk may have to settle for the bench if retaining possession is a priority from the start, with Nkunku and Dewsbury-Hall swapping sides and Palmer a guaranteed starter if fit.
Teenage playmaker Omari Kellyman, 19, has been injured since joining from Aston Villa and will not play until he is fit.
Victor Osimhen waits for Naples to decide its future
Forward: VICTOR OSIMHEN
Chelsea will do everything they can to snatch Osimhen from under the noses of Arsenal and PSG this summer, according to The Athletic, with Napoli's interest in Romelu Lukaku giving them the edge in negotiations.
If they fail to land the Nigerian, who could cost up to £85million while Lukaku goes the other way, the Blues could step up their interest in Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion.
Nicolas Jackson struggled physically during pre-season and didn't play, so expect the Senegalese to take his place on the bench.
Marc Guiu has impressed in his first few games in the Blues, but the Spaniard is only 18 and cannot be expected to start in games of this magnitude at the moment. He could be an option if Chelsea need to score late on.
