The 2024-25 Champions League is upon us, but this year's UEFA draw will be held in a completely new format, with the four Premier League representatives competing in a brand new league phase rather than a group stage.
Previously, 32 teams were divided into eight groups. Each club played six matches against three opponents, home and away. The top two teams from each group qualified for the round of 16 of the competition.
It is now a 36-team tournament in league format. Each club will play eight “group” matches against eight different opponents to determine the ranking.
The top eight teams advance to the round of 16, while the teams ranked ninth to twenty-fourth will play two-legged playoff matches, with the eight winning teams advancing to the next round.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa are the four Premier League clubs waiting to learn their fate, with Scottish club Celtic the fifth and final British team in tonight's draw.
