Tottenham and Arsenal transfer chiefs have reportedly been put on red alert by Real Madrid's latest injury scare after key centre-half Eder Militao went down with a suspected ACL tear.

Militao was seen on a stretcher during Real Madrid's crushing 4-0 home win over Osasuna at the weekend.

But despite Vinicius Junior's hat-trick and Jude Bellingham's return to scoring after a long drought, the atmosphere was gloomy inside the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Militao has featured in all 17 of Real Madrid's matches this season, with the Brazil international forging a strong partnership with Antonio Rudiger at the heart of Los Blancos' defence.

Militao is expected to be forced out for the remainder of the campaign, which could force Real Madrid to look for reinforcements when the January transfer window opens.

Real Madrid could find that a short-term option is the only one available during the winter months, before embarking on a long-term signing in the summer.

If that proves to be the case, it's likely that William Saliba and Cristian Romero will be on the La Liga giant's radar.

Saliba has already been touted as a future Real Madrid signing, and while Arsenal won't want to lose their talismanic defender, their resolve could be tested if the Frenchman's head starts to spin.

Arsenal could be cornered if Saliba shows no signs of extending his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, which is set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Although they would be sure to be able to demand a significant fee for the centre-back if they were forced to sell, the question also arises as to whether Arsenal will be able to live up to Saliba's ambition.

Mikel Arteta's side have struggled at times this season, with the Gunners already far behind leaders Liverpool, and struggling to find their best form in the Champions League.

It's a similar question that Romero's representatives will no doubt also ask the Argentine.

The World Cup winner has spent the last two full seasons with the north Londoners, with Spurs failing to qualify for the Champions League on both occasions.

Given that it has been over a decade since Tottenham last won silverware, the 26-year-old might feel like he needs to leave Spurs in order to achieve his career goals.

And, as will likely be the case with Saliba too, if record European champions Real Madrid come along, it's hard to imagine any player being able to dispel his interest.
