Alphonso Davies has set his conditions as Manchester United plot a blockbuster summer move for the Bayern Munich left-back, according to reports. The 24-year-old's future at the Allianz Arena is uncertain, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, and United have emerged as serious players in the race for his signature.

Ruben Amorim will need a versatile left-back for his 3-4-3 system once he gets to work at Old Trafford on Monday.

However, United were plagued by injuries in the area for most of the year, contributing to Erik ten Hag's struggles and ultimately his dismissal.

Luke Shaw has not played for the club since February – despite featuring for England at Euro 2024 – and Tyrell Malacia has been out for 15 months.

United have reportedly identified Davies as a glorious opportunity on the market to solve their perennial left-back crisis next summer.

According to GIVEMESPORT, the Canada captain would demand a signing fee of around £10 million if he moved to Old Trafford as a free agent.

On top of his £240,000-a-week salary, Davies' financial conditions could pose an insurmountable obstacle as INEOS attempts to undo a decade of poor spending in the transfer market.

He is widely expected to become Real Madrid's latest high-profile free transfer following Kylian Mbappe's move from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

But his stated hope of pocketing a whopping £10 million could even be a stumbling block for the European champions.

United also battled Real for Lille centre-back Leny Yoro earlier this year and won after Los Blancos were unwilling to increase their offer.

The Red Devils sealed Yoro's services in a £59million deal, which was seen as a significant coup given the 18-year-old's flamboyant reputation.

Depending on how much Amorim value the former winger for his dramatic formation change in Manchester, they could also flaunt their financial might in the battle for Davies.

The left-back role can only be played effectively by a specialist player, which United are unlikely to currently have in their ranks.

Shaw has experience playing in a three-man system for England and is the obvious candidate. However, the 29-year-old's inconsistent fitness is proving detrimental to his club.

Harry Amass is one of the country's brightest young prospects and is set to make his breakthrough at United this season.

It would, however, be a monumental ask for the 17-year-old to adapt instantly, so a foray into the transfer market is certainly on the agenda.
