David Coote 'denies calling Liverpool shit and Klopp an a***' in rant as video disputed

David Coote has reportedly denied any wrongdoing after the Premier League referee was suspended pending an investigation following a video leak.

The video, believed to be from 2020, shows Coote appearing to call then-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a “c***”.

Coote also calls Liverpool “s***” in his foul-mouthed rant, before providing an explanation for his outburst.

He was quoted as saying: “As well as throwing a good punch at me when I was refereeing against Burnley during lockdown, he accused me of lying and he just gave me a good punch.

“And I have no interest in talking to someone who is really arrogant, so I tried my best not to talk to him.”

Coote continued his beak, later referring to a match where he was pictured as the fourth official standing next to Jurgen Klopp, saying: “You can see me there. [in a picture on his phone] with a mask.

“You have to be careful, it's true, we respect social distancing, we are two meters apart. But my God, c*** German. F*** me.”

However, according to The Mirror, Coote “vehemently denies any inappropriate conduct” and challenges the legitimacy of the video.

It is suggested that PGMOL chiefs have deployed technical chiefs to review the video to determine if it is real.

PGMOL suspended Coote on Monday afternoon, with a statement from the body responsible for refereeing in England saying: “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will make no further comment until let this process be completed.”
