Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d'Or in 2023.
A total of 10 Premier League stars have been announced on the shortlist to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or, with the winner set to be crowned at a lavish ceremony in Paris on Monday 28 October. French magazine France Football has tonight confirmed the 30 players in the running for football's most prestigious individual award.
The nominees for the Yashin Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper of the past year, the Gerd Muller Trophy, awarded to the best striker, and the Socrates Prize, awarded to the footballer who has undertaken the best humanitarian work, have also been announced.
In addition, France Football has named the candidates for the title of Coach of the Year and the Kopa Trophy, which will be awarded to the best under-21 player in 2024.
Manchester City quartet Rodri, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland are also nominated. Four Arsenal players are also on the list: captain Martin Odegaard and team-mates Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Chelsea player Cole Palmer are also mentioned. But for the first time since 2003, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not on the list.
England star Jude Bellingham has been snapped up after his exceptional debut season at Real Madrid, with Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos, Vinicius Jr, Dani Carvajal, Kylian Mbappe and Antonio Rudiger all joining him from the Champions League holders.
Manchester City duo Rodri and Phil Foden have been appointed.
England captain Harry Kane has also been selected. The others named are Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter Milan), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo (Barcelona), Vitinha (PSG), Florian Wirtz and Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen), Mats Hummels and Artem Dovbik (Roma) and Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao).
Pep Guardiola is one of six names in the running for the Coach of the Year award, alongside Xabi Alonso, Carlo Ancelotti, Luis du la Fuente, Gian Piero Gasperini and Lionel Scaloni.
Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is in the running to succeed Bellingham and lift the Kopa Trophy. He is joined by team-mate Alejandro Garnacho, Spain's Euro 2024 winning duo Pau Cubarsi and Jamal, Arda Guler, Karim Konate, Joao Neves, Savinho, Mathys Tel and Warren Zaire-Emery.

Also nominated for Men's Club of the Year are Manchester City and Real Madrid, joined by Borussia Dortmund, Girona and Bayer Leverkusen.
Argentina goalkeeper Martinez is also in the running for the best goalkeeper award, alongside Diogo Costa, Gianlugi Donnarumma, Gregor Kobel, Andriy Lunin, Mike Maignan, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Unai Simon, Yann Sommer and Ronwen Williams.
