Inter Miami finally knows when Lionel Messi will return from Copa America injury

AInter Miami fans were shocked when they realized that Lionel Messi was likely to miss many games just by looking at his right ankle. A realization that came during the Copa America final where Argentina beat Colombia without their biggest star. Initially, there was some hope that Messi would recover in time for the Leagues Cup match that would take place in Monterrey against Tigres. But Messi is no longer the resilient young player he once was. In fact, age seems to have already taken its toll on Leo and he may still have that unique skill, but he no longer has the same physical prowess. He has been sidelined since July 14, almost a month and a half ago, but we finally know when he will return.

When will Lionel Messi return to action?

These types of bone injuries usually take a long time to heal, even if it's not a fracture. A sprained ankle can sometimes take months, so Messi hasn't been any luckier than other players before him. Manager Gerardo “Tata” Martino has given an update on Leo's return to action. We even have a tentative date now, but the final announcement will be a big deal to some fans because it looks like Messi will be sidelined for much longer than expected. If he does return, it will be until the playoffs, with the final game of the regular season not until October 19 against the New England Revolution. When asked about Leo's return, “Tata” said, “I can't give an approximate number of days before he'll be back in training, but it's not too far off.”

Martino added: “There is a part of the injuries that are related to the physical and a part of the injuries that are related to the mental, so we have to overcome them in both ways and I think he is going through that process. He feels better and better. He has been working on the pitch for three or four days now. We cannot give a time frame because we do not know and it would be speculating on something that is perhaps not possible to do, but it is close.” Messi had hoped to return on August 31 but that seems out of the question for now.
