Trent Alexander-Arnold's skills have come under scrutiny as he faces criticism for his defensive abilities amid rumors of a move to Real Madrid.
As the Liverpool star nears the end of his contract, speculation is rife that he could head to the La Liga champions, with reports from Spain suggesting a verbal agreement is already in place.
However, former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit, who also had a spell at Barcelona, has expressed his doubts over Alexander-Arnold's potential success in Spain.

Talk to Casino Utan SpelpausPetit pointed out: “He's been at Liverpool for so long” and discussed the player's recent performance issues: “His game against Manchester United was a nightmare. He responded well in the FA Cup, but I still wonder what .His best position is on the pitch? For me, he's not a right back, he's not a good defender, but he's so good with the ball.
Petit then discussed the player's future prospects: “So, you're offering him a huge contract? I know he's linked to Real Madrid. Honestly, if he goes there, we won't forgive Real Madrid anything .He will go there, and the fans and the club will say to Trent, forget what you have done with Liverpool so far.
“You won silverware at Liverpool. You won the Champions League. You won the Premier League. Forget it. That's exactly what happened to me when I went to Barcelona. They told me , forget what you have done so far.
Petit issued a stern warning to Alexander-Arnold about the potential dangers of playing for Real Madrid, saying: “You're starting on a new page. So now you have to make history with us.
“If Trent does what he does defensively at Real Madrid, they will kill him. It doesn't matter if he gives assists or scores goals, they will kill him.”

He added: “Look what happened in the Super Cup final? Oh my God. Defensively, it was a nightmare to watch for Real Madrid.
“So, can you imagine Trent Alexander-Arnold in this mess? After two, three games, they will kill him. If I was Trent Alexander-Arnold, I would think twice.”
Petit's remarks follow Roy Keane's scathing criticism of Alexander-Arnold's performance against Manchester United, where Keane commented on Sky Sports: “Trent Alexander-Arnold was everywhere defensively.
“His defending has been schoolboy stuff. He has to do better. They are talking about him moving to Real Madrid. The way he is defending, he will go to Tranmere Rovers after that. He has to do better.”
