Erling Haaland has signed a new contract with Man City.
Erling Haaland has dedicated the majority of his footballing career to Manchester City, signing an incredible nine-and-a-half year contract with the club, according to reports. The Norwegian striker has emphatically ended speculation over his future by completing a record deal at the Etihad Stadium in a significant boost for Pep Guardiola.
Haaland's previous deal was set to expire in June 2027 and reportedly included some clauses that could have facilitated a quicker exit.
However, according to The Athletic, all release clauses have been removed from the 24-year-old's new terms, allowing him to stay for the next decade.
It is claimed to be one of the most lucrative contracts in sporting history, which could see Haaland stay at City until the age of 34.
Haaland would love life in Manchester, having recently moved and become a father for the first time.
He shares strong relationships with Guardiola, who in November signed a two-year contract extension until 2027, and with other City bosses including President Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
The Premier League champions reportedly view Haaland as the world's best striker after signing him from Borussia Dortmund in a ÂĢ50.6million move in 2022.
He boasts an outrageous record of 111 goals in 126 appearances in all competitions for the club and will now turn his attention to Alan Shearer's long-standing Premier League record.
Erling Haaland will be 34 when his new contract ends.
Haaland helped City win two titles, an FA Cup and a UEFA Super Cup, after playing a pivotal role in the club's maiden Champions League success.
His blockbuster commitment to Cityzens is a clear indicator of confidence in east Manchester ahead of a verdict on alleged financial breaches.
In February 2023, the Premier League accused City of breaking 115 of its financial rules, all of which the club denied.
The hearing, which was held at the International Dispute Resolution Center between September 16 and December 6, has now concluded and its outcome is expected as early as March.
Guardiola's side have stumbled on the pitch in recent months and are sixth in the Premier League after 21 games, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.
City responded by spending around ÂĢ200m on new signings this month, on top of Haaland's big new deal.
Centre-back duo Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis are set to join Lens and Palmeiras respectively, while a deal has been agreed for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.
Guardiola is also targeting Juventus right-back Andrea Cambiaso to replace Kyle Walker, who asked to leave before the January transfer deadline.
