Abdukodir Khusanov
Manchester City have reportedly targeted brilliant young defender Abdukodir Khusanov in an audacious £20million raid, as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his defensive options with the 20-year-old Lens star.
The race to sign Khusanov is intensifying with interest also coming from heavyweights such as Newcastle, Tottenham and PSG, according to the Mirror.
His agent, Gairat Khasbiullin, is optimistic about a move, saying: “Abdukodir is a player who has already shown that he is one of the best in his position in Europe.
“He is young and every day he gets stronger.
“He deserves to play for the best clubs in Europe.”
Highlighting the strong ties with the French club, Khasbiullin added: “We have a very good relationship with Lens and we are on the same side – together we want the best for the player.”
The agent also suggested that Lens would stand to gain hugely: “If the transfer is successful, the club will receive a well-deserved reward for putting their trust in the young player.”
Freshly crowned Ligue 1's best defender for the first half of the season, Khusanov's potential move could represent a huge bargain for Lens compared to the just £83,000 they paid for him in July 2023 when he joined the Belarusian team Energetik- BUG.
