Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is being monitored by Real Madrid, with the Spanish club reportedly willing to pay a transfer fee to prize the player away from Anfield this month. And Reds defender Conor Bradley, 21, will be watching the situation closely after comments he made in October.

Alexander-Arnold has been one of Liverpool's best players since starring for the team during their Champions League title run in 2019.

The 26-year-old has made 333 appearances for his boyhood club and helped the team win numerous trophies over the years.

Liverpool have failed to tie down Alexander-Arnold to a new deal at Anfield, with his current contract expiring this summer.

The successful star has attracted interest from Real Madrid and is now free to agree a pre-contract with the Bernabeu giants.

The Telegraph reported yesterday that Real were even willing to pay Liverpool £20 million to secure an immediate transfer, even though the Reds do not want to lose their star defender mid-season while they are still at search for silverware on all fronts.

Bradley will be desperate to see how the situation develops after producing a series of outstanding performances while replacing his teammate earlier in the season when the England international was injured.

The youngster featured in Liverpool's Premier League wins over Aston Villa and Southampton in November, before dazzling against Real Madrid in a Champions League clash at Anfield.

The Northern Ireland international, currently out with a hamstring injury, has made 12 appearances for Arne Slot's side in all competitions this campaign. And during the international break in October, he issued a warning to Alexander-Arnold during an interview with BBC Sport NI.

“I want to play week in, week out for Liverpool,” he explained. “I know I have a tough challenge ahead of me, but I want to give it my all every day and see where it takes me.”

He added: “I’m still young. I know I'm not a complete player and I still have plenty of areas to improve. As long as I continue to work hard in the gym and on the field every day, I can only get better and I hope I continue to do so.

Bradley is Alexander-Arnold's natural successor at right-back but will struggle to overtake his colleague in the hierarchy.

But if Real manage to secure a deal for Alexander-Arnold, Bradley could well be a regular fixture in the Liverpool team sooner than he expected.
