Express Sport brings you the latest transfer news
Liverpool threw down the challenge to their Premier League rivals after extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points following victory over West Ham on Sunday evening. Arne Slot resisted the temptation to spend big during the summer transfer window and appears to have been vindicated for his decision.
The Reds considered Arsenal and Manchester City their main rivals for the title before the campaign, but have built a considerable lead over both teams under Slot.
The Gunners and Citizens will be desperate to sign new talent in January, with City already virtually out of the title race.
Chelsea stepped up and launched into the battle for silverware after winning 10 of their opening 18 league matches. The Blues could strengthen their squad at the start of 2025 to ensure they do not fall.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have huge problems to solve but will need to spend wisely in January after getting things wrong in the past. And Tottenham also needs reinforcements.

Liverpool offers ignored
Trent Alexander-Arnold has ignored contract renewal offers from Liverpool, according to Spanish media outlet AS. The right-back is said to be a foot and a half in the door at Real Madrid, with a move to the Bernabeu stadium 90 per cent complete.
The 26-year-old, who scored his first goal of the season against West Ham yesterday, wants to move to Madrid and has agreed a move to Real. He just needs to put pen to paper on his contract, according to the report.
Man Utd eye Amorim reunion
Manchester United are reportedly considering a reunion between Ruben Amorim and Nuno Mendes. The duo spent almost 18 months together at Sporting after Amorim took charge of the club, with the left-back subsequently securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
Writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Fabrizio Romano insisted United were planning to sign a left-back in 2025 and were keen on 22-year-old Mendes.
But he also claimed that the Red Devils also liked the look of the other left-backs.
