Erling Haaland turned the air blue during his post-match interview after Manchester City's win over Leicester – and Sky Sports appeared to miss it in a rare mistake as they failed to apologize during their Super Sunday broadcast.

Haaland scored the second goal in a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium despite Ruud van Nistelrooy's relegation-threatened Foxes producing a difficult second-half performance. The hosts failed to score despite multiple opportunities.

Speaking on the pitch after the match, Haaland told Sky Sports: “It's good to win. Not much to say, it's good to win. I don't know what the difference was to be honest, I'm just happy to win.

“It's important to look ahead. Things happen. It's something that can happen. You (the interviewer) also swore before, so it doesn't matter. Things happen. We We need to keep going, stay positive and focus on the good things.”

And despite a cut to Kelly Cates in the Sky Sports studio after the interview, the broadcaster did not issue an apology through the presenter for Haaland's choice of words – as is usually the custom.

City's victory was only the second in their last 14 matches in all competitions, with Pep Guardiola's reigning champions hit hard by injuries and a lack of energy throughout the squad.

Scoring his goal, Haaland added: “It's always a relief when you score. It was an important goal to go 2-0 up. Leicester played a very good game.

“They played very well under the new coach. We knew it was going to be difficult. Every game is difficult. It's about putting the game in your favor. That's what you have to do.

“It's been a difficult period. Now it's the New Year, so we shouldn't think too much about football. There are five, six or seven days until the next match, so this is the longest period since quite a long time, so we can rest a little and start again.”

Likewise, his manager Guardiola admitted it was a sheer relief for City to win again. They had won just once in nine league matches previously and lost six.

The Catalan coach reacted: “It wasn't the ideal performance but at the moment it's almost impossible to do that. Hopefully the victory will improve our mood and it's important to win here.

“We struggled, it was tight, for the first half hour of the second half they were much better than us. We didn't have enough energy to keep our game going for 90 minutes.

“I hope this result and the new year will help us bounce back a bit, especially the results, and that the players come back a bit.

“In the situation we are in, the result is the most important thing, to clear our minds and score points. Now we have another home game and a lot of good things happened today.

“It's not nice, it's just a relief right now, that's the word for the feeling we're all feeling. But we have to get better.”
