Pep Guardiola is under huge pressure at Manchester City and the chances are slim that the Spaniard will be the next sacked Premier League manager.

City are in dire form which has seen them record just one in their last 12 matches in all competitions.

Gary O'Neil was sacked by Wolves earlier after just two wins in 16 and Southampton axed Russell Martin after one win in 17.

So is Guardiola just weeks away from being sacked? The Express Sport editors had their say…

If City missed out on the Champions League places, it would be a monumental crisis. It would be a crisis to attract players. Crisis for FFP. Crisis of sponsorship agreements. Almost every facet of the club will be affected.

But Guardiola has plenty of credit in the bank. They need to give him the funds to strengthen in January and he will get them out of this rut.

City should not sack Pep Guardiola. The guy is arguably the best manager in the history of football and is the one who has brought unprecedented success to the Etihad Stadium.

There is no better manager than the Spaniard and City will suffer a humiliating disgrace if he leaves the club.

When you have a maniacal, intense dictator ruling over a group of players who compete for elite trophies year after year, at some point a decline is inevitable.

Yes, few would have imagined City's dip in form becoming as serious as it has been. But like the 2019/20 campaign, a team that dominated in previous years now needs a reset.

That reset will happen this summer when, ignoring of course 115 other potential factors, Guardiola refreshes his squad and City, and their manager, return. Any idea of firing him is ridiculous.

Sacking Pep Guardiola weeks after celebrating his new contract would only intensify the crisis narrative.

If the best active manager in football can't get Manchester City out of this rut, would any manager coming in mid-season be able to? If the current trend continues, a rebuild will be launched under his successor next summer.

Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager English football has ever known.

Have City stagnated in recent months? Unquestionably. Guardiola's blind loyalty to his generals from previous seasons has led to a sharp decline in quality and hunger levels this season.

But these are the same players who helped City win four consecutive league titles just six months ago. On top of that, there is the 100-point season, the domestic quadruple and the 2022/23 triple triumph. He is a legend among men.

Pep's departure from the Etihad will be on his own terms, no one else's.

It is surely inconceivable to think about the prospect of sacking Guardiola, but at what point is it not bad form, but the new City? They seriously risk missing the Champions League.

If Zinedine Zidane is prepared to travel to Manchester, he will have to at least consider picking up the phone.
