Brighton will strengthen their midfield with the arrival of Paraguayan international Diego Gomez from Inter Miami in January.

The 21-year-old prodigy is set to join the Seagulls on January 1 when the transfer window reopens. Impressively, the midfielder has scored six goals in 28 appearances for the MLS side this season, playing a pivotal role in their qualification for next summer's Club World Cup.

Additionally, Gomez shone at the Paris Olympics, propelling Paraguay to the quarterfinals, where they were narrowly beaten by Egypt in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler is looking forward to Gomez's arrival: “We look forward to working with Diego very soon. He has already made a real impression both at club and international level.

“Like all young players who come from abroad, he will need a period of adaptation to the Premier League, but I think he can make a big contribution and I look forward to working with him.”

David Weir, Brighton's technical director, expressed his confidence in Gomez, highlighting his abilities: “He is a dynamic midfielder who can provide goals and assists.

“He has just completed the MLS campaign, so we are confident he will be ready to compete for a place on the team when he joins us next month.”
