Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed fans at every stadium want him to lose his job. The Spaniard failed to turn around his side's fortunes against Liverpool on Sunday as the Citizens were beaten 2-0 at Anfield.

City have lost four Premier League matches in a row following last month's defeats to Bournemouth, Brighton and Tottenham.

And the reigning Premier League champions, who have dropped to fifth place in the table, now find themselves 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

In the final moments of Sunday's game, Liverpool fans could be heard taunting Guardiola from the stands, chanting: “You'll be fired tomorrow morning.”

And after the match, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager told Sky Sports: “All the stadiums want to fire me – it started at Brighton. Maybe they are right with the results we got .

“I didn’t expect that at Anfield. They didn't do it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should have sung it in the past. I didn't expect that from the Liverpool people, but it's okay. It's part of the game and I completely understand. We have experienced incredible fights together. I have respect for them.

City were outplayed from start to finish against the Reds and fell behind 12 minutes into the match when Cody Gakpo collected Mohamed Salah's cross from close range.

Liverpool should have been out of sight long before finally killing off the game by wasting numerous chances. But when Salah scored a penalty 12 minutes from time, the visitors had no way of coming back.

And Guardiola added: “We didn't have a pre-season and then [had] injuries, but we know it and we have to survive with it. We competed but we didn't create many chances.

“We don't have the rhythm in the middle at the moment and they are stronger in duels and you have to survive with the ball. We are not good in transitions over 30 or 40 meters compared to them. We had to adapt and we did it.

“I can't forget what players I have. I'm here as a manager and I stand up for what we've done in the past thanks to them and more than ever I want to be with them and hug them. We must change the results and at the right time we will make the decision. »

He then explained: “We have to think about getting results and then some players will come back and then we will be better and maybe we will believe in it. There are many things we have to fight for – and we will try.”
