Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid
As rumors swirl about his future, Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a content man at Liverpool amid rumors of a potential transfer. The England right-back's current deal with the Reds is coming to an end, sparking speculation that Real Madrid are signing him on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold, along with his Liverpool teammates Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, could potentially leave Anfield for free at the end of the season. All three are eligible to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign teams as of January 1.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, has not yet announced his intentions.
Remarkably low-key in his intentions, Alexander-Arnold said in September that he did not anticipate his contract negotiations becoming a media spectacle. He said: “I've always said I want to captain the club, it's a goal and a goal of mine, whether that happens is out of my control.
“I've been at the club for 20 years now, I've signed four or five contract extensions and none of them have been played out in public. And this one won't be either.”
With 325 appearances, 19 goals and 81 assists for Liverpool, as well as an impressive collection of top-flight trophies, Alexander-Arnold admits he has already surpassed what he once dreamed was possible at the club where it all began for him.
“I never thought I would play so many games,” he admitted in an exclusive chat with Liverpool's official website for the 'Backyard Dreams' series. I'm living my dream every day and I've been doing it since the moment I started kicking a ball until now, to be honest.
He also revealed his childhood idols from his Liverpool days, clearly showing his admiration for Steven Gerrard. “Obviously, I didn't see it as training or trying to improve. I just saw it as playing a game with my brothers. But if you put in the hours, you get better. I was Gerrard, of course there wasn't -another one for me I loved. [Fernando] Torres, Luis Garcia, [Luis] Suarez, but Gerrard was made for me.”
And when it came to emulating his hero on the makeshift pitch, he said: “It was 'Gerrard!' when you hit [the ball]that was the thing. When you were about to hit him, you shouted “Gerrard!” “He’s the only player I know who’s ever had that.”

He added: “No one shouts another player’s name. [But] If he lands on you during the volley, you shout 'Gerrard!'”
This follows reports that Real Madrid have 'made contact' with Liverpool over the signing of Alexander-Arnold. According to talkSPORT, Los Blancos have made the Reds aware of their intention to sign the England international out of respect.
